GLAMCHOP's Ellen Parker began her crafty pursuits as a kid in New England. Printmaking started at age six in summer camp with potato cuts and tempera paint, which gave way to linoleum and other relief printing techniques. At age nine her mom taught her to sew using a pink, kid-sized Sears machine which produced some stellar outfits for her stuffed Snoopy, and a different book bag for every day of the week. In college she made costumes for an underground arts disorganization and printed copyright-violating T-shirts to sell on campus and in rock show parking lots.
Ellen ditched the east coast in 1991 to pioneer sarcasm in the Pacific Northwest, and also wound up in a career as a graphic design production manager. She oversaw gargantuous print runs of corporate clients' marketing materials for a decade...long enough to become disenchanted with generating junk mail and land-fill. GLAMCHOP grew from Ellen's love for design, printing, sewing...and accessories that don't suck. She gets a huge kick out of hunting down new and recycled materials, printing and repurposing them to create original, functional and non-disposable art for people to utilize, fancy and express themselves with.
